The CSI National IT Awards 2002-2003, instituted to identify successful e-governance implementations, were presented in a function held at The Marine Plaza, Mumbai yesterday.

The Andhra Pradesh government bagged the top honors for Rural eSeva , an e-governance project implemented in January this year across several districts in the state. The project also brought acclaim for Pramati Tecnologies, a Hyderabad-based enterprise Java platform vendor. Pramati won the CSI-Infosys Award in the Best Shrink-wrapped Product category.

Pune-based network solution provider, Divinet Access Technologies, shared the Best IT Usage award with the state of Andhra Pradesh. Divinet received the award for the development of RAMNet (Remote Access Metropolitan Network), a broadband MAN solution.

Among other award winners, Hyderabad-based Satyam Computer Services won the CSI-Wipro Award for Best Packaged Application for A-Mantra--an enterprise-wide facilities management solution. Web Peripherals, Bangalore, was declared the runner-up in the Best IT Usage category in recognition for its project named 'Empowering Brick Economy with Click Economy'.

Instituted by the Computer Society of India (CSI), an association of information technology professionals, the awards were sponsored by Infosys, Wipro and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

The panel of judges comprising Dr Keshav Nori of TCS, H. R. Mohan of The Hindu, and Anil Kekre of Satyam, evaluated the contenders on the following broad parameters: Criticality of IT usage; improvement in customer service; impact on quality and productivity, and impact on society and innovation.
