Indya.com acquires 68 per cent in Bigtree Interactive

| Indya.com, in which the Star group has picked up close to full equity, has acquired a 68 percent stake in Bigtree Interactive Ticketing, a ticketing and marketing company. Bigtree has recently gone a change in the ownership structure after the Mumbai-based Bigtree Entertainment and New Delhi-based Interactive Television On Line Ticketing merged. Last week, Star Network had hiked its stake in indya.com to nearly 100 percent from the 37 percent it had acquired last year. Indya.com would hold a majority stake in Bigtree Interactive while the other 4 founders , Ajay Mehta, Ashish Hemrajani, Parikshit Dar and Rajesh Balpande would own the remaining 32 per cent between them. However, the individual stakes have not been disclosed. Alok Sethi, the Chief Financial Officer of Indya.com Portal Pvt. Ltd. who would be the Chief Executive Officer of Bigtree Interactive Ticketing Pvt. Ltd Indya.com also announced the launch of a new ticket delivery service - Indya Tickets in a move aimed at further strengthening the portals positioning as a unique communications, entertainment and Commerce powerhouse. Indya Tickets service would cover delivery for a fee, tickets for movies, theatre and drama, sporting events, music and entertainment shows and specialised events. The service can be availed of through call centres, dedicated kiosks, mobile phones as well as through the Internet. Bigtree Interactive Ticketing Ltd will deliver tickets in the five major metros initially, said Sunil Lulla, chief executive officer of indya.com. The launch is in line with Indyas business strategy of establishing a leadership position in transaction domains. Indya Tickets builds on the proposition of a communications, entertainment and commerce powerhouse, with a paid for service of a high convenience value. he added.
